In celebration of this centennial milestone, renowned NYC trombonist, John Fedchock recorded a live quartet recording in J.J. Johnson's hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana titled, “Justifiably J.J.” (Summit Records DCD-828). The September album release will be celebrated with an official CD release tour, culminating in this very special night at Ginger Rabbit. Featured alongside Fedchock will be Phil DeGreg (piano), Terry Douds (bass) and Jim Rupp (drums). This is a one-time event not to be missed! John Fedchock’s career in jazz has spanned over four decades. Since his emergence on the scene in 1980, Fedchock has established himself as a world-class trombone soloist, a heralded bandleader, and a GRAMMY-nominated arranger. His critically acclaimed John Fedchock New York Big Band has become a marquee group, and in recognition of his writing skills, Fedchock is a two-time GRAMMY nominee for arranging. Fedchock began his career with Woody Herman and has since performed with T.S. Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Louie Bellson, Jon Faddis, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. Born in Cleveland, Fedchock is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is a sought-after solo artist, recognized by Hot HouseNYC as “one of the living masters of his instrument”.
